Service Description
Japa Mala & The Power of Prayer A One-Hour Introduction to Sacred Repetition Across nearly every culture and spiritual tradition, human beings have discovered the transformative power of sacred repetition. Whether called Japa, the Rosary, prayer ropes, Tasbih, or mantra meditation, the practice is remarkably universal: a simple rhythm of breath, prayer, and intention that quiets the mind and opens the heart. In this beginner-friendly workshop, we will explore the history, symbolism, and philosophy of the Japa Mala while honoring the many traditions that have embraced prayer beads throughout history. This class welcomes every background and belief system. Whether your prayer is "Om," the Hail Mary, the Jesus Prayer, "So Hum," "Wahe Guru," or simply "Thank You," this workshop invites you to discover prayer as a living relationship rather than a ritual of obligation. No previous experience is necessary. Each participant will receive a Japa Mala (or may bring their own) and leave with the knowledge and confidence to begin a meaningful personal practice rooted in respect, curiosity, and devotion.
